Plan of Attack handled the whole campaign for Firestoke and Moonloop Games’ beguiling indie adventure Hauntii, from Firestoke’s signing of the game as a publisher in June of 2023, through to the game’s PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch release in May 2024.

We kicked off the campaign with a combined announcement revealing that Firestoke had signed and would be publishing Hauntii, as well as that it would be coming to PC and consoles. We debuted a trailer revealing the news at the Day of the Devs showcase which took place on June 8th 2023, supporting it with a press release sent out wide to the media. The announcement was a huge success, generating 137 news articles, including from key outlets like IGN, Push Square, Everyeye and Multiplayer. The game was picked out as a highlight of the Summer Game Fest showcases by PC Gamer and Kotaku and there were previews based on hands-on time with the game published by GamesRadar and Game Informer, as well as interview content published by Game Rant and The Guardian.

With this first beat doing a great job of putting Hauntii on the map, our focus then shifted to gamescom, where Firestoke were showing off the game in the business area with a hands-on demo and we planned to debut a new trailer. Plan of Attack successfully got the trailer into IGN’s Awesome Indies showcase for gamescom and handled booking of press appointments for the event. The trailer generated 50 news hits, while the hands-on appointments at the show generated another 22 previews, including from The Gamer and Game Reactor.

Our next big PR beat for Hauntii was in February as we began a phase of concentrated activity to build momentum for the game’s launch. A trailer announcing that Hauntii would be available on Game Pass was dropped on February 7th, with us distributing the trailer via a press release to the media. We managed to generate 57 news hits, including top-tier sites like IGN and Game Rant, as well as platform specific media like TrueAchievements, Xboxdynasty and Pure Xbox. The game was also featured as the Eurogamer “Game of the week” on February 9th. Hauntii was also part of the Steam Next Fest in February, for which we distributed a media blast - the demo was subsequently highlighted by VG247 and GAMINGBible as one of the demos to check out.

For Hauntii’s release date announcement trailer, Plan of Attack reached out to the Future Games Show about placing the trailer in their Spring showcase. This developed into a debut of the trailer, intercut with a recording of a live musical performance of a track from the game recorded in LA. Again, we also pushed the trailer and news of the game’s release date via a press release. The release date announcement was another big success, generating 106 news hits. The likes of IGN, Push Square, Vandal, Multiplayer.it, Everyeye.it, Hardcore Gamer and Xboxdynasty all published dedicated articles on the announcement.

Plan of Attack handled the pitching and distribution of codes to press in the leadup to the game’s release. We saw the benefits of a successful campaign that had raised the profile of this new IP, with a total of 130 reviews being published. Again, we managed to get plenty of big outlets on board, with reviews being published in The Guardian, The New York Times, Game Informer, Nintendo Life, EDGE and more.

At the time of writing, over 950 pieces of news and preview content have been published covering Hauntii, along with 130 reviews - a fantastic return for the debut title from an unknown indie team in this campaign that really brought the game into the view of the world’s biggest gaming outlets.
