RUCKUS GAMES - FUNDING AND IP TEASER CAMPAIGN
PC + CONSOLEPlan of Attack collaborated with Ruckus Games on two simultaneous announcements. One was a B2B corporate-focused story about how the studio secured $19 million in Series A funding, while another was a consumer-focused piece teasing the new studio’s debut title, a thus far untitled session-based suburban invasion game. Since these two news stories were catered to two very different audiences, we wrote two separate press releases for these - though both made mention of the headlining story from the other announcement.
To prepare for these announcements, we collaborated with Ruckus Games on drafting each press release so we could ensure the messaging was on point for their respective audiences. We then pitched the news stories to major trade and consumer outlets one week ahead of the stories going public, saying that former Gearbox, Bethesda, and Epic Games veterans had secured $19m in funding and would be announcing a new IP and that we could share more if they agreed to a coverage embargo. We also offered interviews with Ruckus Games’ CEO and Game Director, Paul Sage.
Many top-tier sites - including Venture Beat, Game Developer, GamesIndustry.biz, GamesRadar+, PC Gamer, Bleeding Cool, and Gematsu - agreed to this embargo and were able to prepare coverage in advance. Additionally, Venture Beat and GamesRadar+ took us up on the interview opportunity and offered more in-depth features around these.
Both Plan of Attack drafted press releases were shared widely on November 14th, 2025, once the embargo was lifted. The B2B funding PR was English only, while the consumer -focused game announcement was localized into French, Italian, Spanish, and German as well. In total, we secured 109 news stories across both announcements, including coverage from outlets such as Game Rant, GamesRadar+, PC Gamer, PCGamesN, Gameranx, Venture Beat, Gematsu, Bleeding Cool, Vandal, GamesIndustry.biz, and more.
Given that we were announcing a game without a video asset or even a title, the amount and quality of coverage was considered a staggering success. Of the 109 news stories procured, 29 of them were from outlets with over one million monthly views. This was a monumental achievement given how little about the game was being shared, putting Ruckus Games in a very healthy position to update an already interested audience with more details about their debut game as it continues development.
