Plan of Attack executed a communications campaign in Europe, Australia, and North & South America for Kimmo Lahtinen’s hyperkinetic twin-stick shooter Sektori for its November 18th, 2025 launch on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms.

The communications campaign for Sektori kicked off with a release date announcement on October 8th, 2025, showcasing a new brief 50-second trailer highlighting the game’s eye-melting gameplay and launch date. This got picked up by 44 news outlets, including such sites as IGN, PC Gamer, and Sector.

Eight days later, on October 16th, 2025, we sent out a media alert to our mailing list letting press know codes were available, as well as reaching out to press and influencers who we’d seen cover other twin-stick shooters, shmups, and indie arcade games. Anyone who requested codes and was vetted as a legitimate content creator received a code with their impressions embargoed until launch day.

When the game launched on November 18th, we sent out an “Out Now” press release with a new, 79-second launch trailer showcasing a character getting ready to go off and start their day. News of the Early Access launch was covered by 67 outlets including Metro, IGN, Pure Xbox, and Giant Bomb.

Once the game was released, we reached out to over 1,000 influencers offering review codes upon request. Anyone who requested codes and was vetted as a legitimate content creator received a code. From this outreach we ended up generating 161 reviews or impressions pieces, as well as 823 pieces of video content across Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok.

Highlights included positive impressions pieces from PC Gamer, Metro, Wired, The Verge, The Gamer, Digital Spy, Ars Technica, and Eurogamer - which ranked it #13 in its “50 Best Games of 2025.”. It also received videos singing its praises from influencers such as Jacob Geller, Digital Foundry, and Second Wind.

For the Switch 2 launch we announced the game’s release date on April 23rd, 2026, then immediately pitched review codes on April 23rd, targeting Nintendo-focused outlets and content creators, as well as top-tier press, offering unsolicited codes for this new handheld version.

We then announced that the game has launched on Switch 2 on May 14th, 2027. Post-launch, we followed up with outlets that had not yet published a review, as well as sent a targeted pitch to Metacritic-approved outlets for special consideration. This resulted in stellar reviews from such outlets as Nintendo World Report (10/10), Digitally Downloaded (5/5), Nindie Spotlight (9.8/10), Gaming Trend (95/100), and Nintendo Life (9/10).

The Switch 2 campaign alone secured 136 news stories, and 48 reviews or impressions pieces. In terms of video coverage, this resulted in 80 YouTube videos, 10 Twitch videos and 70 streams, and 12 Tik Tok videos.

At the time of writing, Sektori has received a grand total of 305 news stories, 209 reviews or impressions pieces, and 1,188 influencer videos from various content creators, for a cumulative total of 1,702 pieces of coverage across roughly 30 countries.

Sektori received stellar reviews, with a MetaCritic score of 93 (PC), 88 (PS5), and 94 (Switch 2), making it the highest rated game on Switch 2 to date! This puts developer Kimmo Lahtinen in an enviable spot to continue their career as a solo developer.
