WARHAMMER CLASSICS

PC / Steam

Plan of Attack executed a communications campaign across Europe, North America, South America, and beyond for Warhammer Classics - a game preservation initiative launched jointly by SNEG and Games Workshop, bringing more than 20 classic and cult-favourite Warhammer video games back to PC via Steam, including seven titles making their Steam debut for the first time.

The campaign launched on 13 April 2026 with a simultaneous trailer and press release drop, establishing the preservation angle as the central editorial hook. The announcement generated 119 pieces of coverage in a single day (40.3% of the campaign's total), with pickups from major outlets including IGN (US, FR, ES, PL, CZ, NO, ZA, Adria, SEA, PT, ME, GR) GameSpot, PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Polygon, Gizmodo, and ComicBook.com, as well as strong representation across Europe from outlets such as GameStar (Germany), Vandal and 3DJuegos (Spain), Multiplayer (Italy), Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun (UK). A one-week sale period ran concurrently through 17 April 2026.

Alongside the launch push, PoA coordinated an interview programme with SNEG acting as official spokesperson, positioning the co-founders as credible voices on the topic of game preservation and digital re-releases. Interviews were placed across a range of outlets spanning multiple territories and formats, including PCZone, GamesMarkt, Monstervine, GameObserver, Digitally Downloaded, and GameWatcher. The programme also included a podcast appearance on The SML Podcast and a feature interview with GameReactor, which was subsequently translated and republished across six additional language editions: Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Middle East, Czech Republic, and Germany, each counted as a discrete piece of coverage reaching a distinct regional audience.

In parallel, GameReactor served as a key sustained editorial partner throughout the campaign, producing content across multiple formats and language editions: a livestream on 16 April generating 16 pieces across its international network; individual "Does It Hold Up?" deep-dive features on Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, and Space Hulk; and a broader preservation and multi-platform strategy feature with SNEG co-founders, translated across seven language editions. This sustained output meaningfully extended the campaign's active coverage window well beyond the launch window.

At the close of the reporting period on 31 May 2026, the campaign had generated 295 pieces of coverage across 192 outlets in 39 countries and markets. Total unique outlet reach reached 802,612,841, with strong representation across the United States (55 pieces, 47 outlets) as well as key European markets including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and Poland.
